Exploration

For the intrepid explorer, the Drakensberg area provides a plethora of landscapes and vistas. Meander through the northern, central and southern berg, or visit Clarens - a quaint artistic town which has been touted as one of South Africa's most beautiful.

With over 40 000 individual paintings and over 550 sites to view San rock art, the Drakensberg presents a glimpse of life of a distant era. History is recorded through artworks on the sides of caves that were once homes to the San people.

Hiking

Drakensberg is renowned for its many hiking trails, and outdoor enthusiasts have a number of leisurely walks, more advanced day-trails, and overnight hikes of three or four days to choose from.

For experienced hikers, the Cathedral Peak Trail (10kms, 6-7 hours) leads to the summit of one of the major free-standing peaks in the Drakensberg. The Tugela Gorge hike (2-3 hours, 7kms) at Royal Natal traverses stretches of protea, grassland and forest offering spectacular views from the top of the Tugela Falls.

We will gladly assist you in finding the perfect hiking trail, and will take care of bookings on your behalf.

Hikes include visits to San rock paintings, wetlands and coveted picnic spots.

Mountain Biking

The Drakensberg is home to a multitude of mountain bike trails, and both novice and advanced cyclists will find a suitable excursion to suit their disposition and level of fitness.

We will gladly assist you in finding the ideal route to suit your individual requirements.
