Welcome to a truly unique and grounding experience—Together with Horses is where the journey goes far beyond learning how to work with a horse. This is an invitation to step into a space where connection, communication, and partnership take center stage, guided by the quiet wisdom of one of nature’s most intuitive and healing beings.
In this groundwork session, you will be gently introduced to the art of interacting with horses in a way that is respectful, mindful, and deeply attuned. The Appaloosa, known for its intelligence, sensitivity, healing, and strong sense of awareness, becomes both teacher and partner. Rather than controlling or directing, you’ll learn to listen—through body language, energy, and presence—discovering a form of communication that transcends words.
Nestled between mountains and water, the setting itself plays a vital role in the experience. The rhythm of nature encourages you to slow down, breathe deeply, and become present in the moment. Here, time softens. Distractions fall away. What remains is a series of quiet, meaningful interactions—moments where trust is built, and connection is felt in its purest form.
Each session is human-guided but horse-led, allowing the Appaloosa to set the pace and tone. This creates space for authentic engagement, where you begin to understand not just how to be with a horse, but how to be—with yourself. The lessons learned often extend far beyond the arena: patience, awareness, empathy, and the subtle power of slowing down and truly enjoying life.
Whether you are new to horses or experienced, this session offers something deeply special—a chance to reconnect with nature, with others, and with a quieter, more grounded part of yourself.
The Drakensberg offers a variety of outdoor experiences and activities for every personality. Whether you are an adrenaline “junkie”, family or honeymooner, you will find something on the menu to suit you.
Adventure Activities
Activities including white water river rafting, abseiling, mountaineering and quad biking are but a few of the ways to enjoy the rivers, mountains and tracks.
Golfing
Drakensberg is home to a number of rolling fairways and challenging greens, including Cathedral Peak, Champagne Valley and Hlalanathi (nine hole golf courses). Champagne Sports Resort in the central Drakensberg is a popular 18 hole course, while a little closer afield is Harrismith Golf Club. This course was designed in 1887 and is the 3rd oldest golf course in South Africa.
The Clarens Golf & Leisure Estate – Before you tee off, take time to absorb the setting of the picturesque town and the full 360 degree view of the mountains. All of the 18 holes meander along and across the tranquil river and its splendid series of cascades. Great care has been taken to ensure that each round of golf that you play will be as memorable, if not more memorable than the previous one, through attention to detail and beauty.
It would be our pleasure to book your tee-off for you.
